Belagavi City and Fusion of Culture
Belagavi City and What comes to your mind when, a fusion of culinary, smell of pride and valor, a green belt with virgin
waterfalls in a thick rainforest jungle and the largest number of resorts in the Western Ghats situated.
Yes, You guessed it right, it is Belagavi (Erstwhile named by the British as Belgaum, the Northwest Karnataka
regional revenue Headquarter) the fourth largest city in the present Karnataka state, with the third busiest
airport after Bangalore, Mangalore, and the most connected city in North Karnataka by Air.
The amalgamation of cultures includes three states Karnataka Maharashtra and Goa, and no culture
isn’t complete without food and folklore, and here one place called Belagavi City merges all of it, be it north
Karnataka blend of (Jolad Rotti) kind of bread made out of Sorghum called Jowar in the local language,
besides the Konkan spiced curries (be it Kaju rassa, kolambi, or sol Khadi) and southern Maharashtra
& Goa blend of Belagavi food makes it a place for “have it all at one melting point” of cultural culinary fusion.

In addition to Belagavi Food Trail, Belagavi City since of late, A venue called Khau Katta or Tinsu Katte, a huge joint of forty-five different
a variety of food stalls from all the nooks and corners of the country was established, where you can savor
the whole taste of India in one place, you name it and can have it, isn’t it yummy, mouth-watering,
relishing now it is the most happening evening joint in the city, with an aroma of food in the air situated right in the
heart of the city, so how about visiting here sure, not to be missed out on a place in this happening city.
Belagavi Food has its smell of flavors in the air, the most known and famous for a dish made out of milk
called Kunda, and one of the main ingredients is Sugar, well that to a lot in abundance is
produced from sugarcane cultivation locally with over thirty refineries in the whole district, and for this
the reason the city has a synonym as Kunda Nagari /Sugar Bowl of Karnataka as well.

Not to miss about the pride and valor in blood here, since the 1857 revolt ignited against the British by
Queen of Kittur Rani Chennamma raised her sword with her deputy Veer Sangolli Rayanna. She was
born here in Belagavi Suburb called Kakti), Belagavi houses the Head Quarter of the Maratha Regimental
Center and commando training school, at the same time remnants of Maratha King Veer Chhatrapati Shivaji
Maharaj has massive footprints too. Indian Airforce is home to the Airmen Training School of India,
the young men are turned into Air warriors.
As mentioned earlier Belagavi City is known as the sugar bowl of
Karnataka, the transfer to the Belagavi base is often tagged with (Gud Kha Ganna Chuso) besides the
defense bases in Belagavi witnessed many international events of defense exercises with various
countries and these bases make Belagavi cosmopolitan too with a good floating crowd from various
parts of the country, in fact, many have made Belagavi their second home post-retirement, indeed
pensioners paradise.

Belagavi City is not only unique for its cuisine, culture, history, and bravery; it is also unique because of its location on the edge of the Sahyadri, which is well-known for its cool climate all year long and cold but not harsh winters, with temperatures occasionally freezing to 9 degrees, in fact, a pleasant winter.

As a result, Goa is well-known for its sea beaches and draws large crowds from all over the world, but if you ask native Goans about their weekend plans, they will likely say that they are traveling to Belgaum or Belagavi City. As a result, there is a strong trade relationship between Goa and Belagavi; for example, Belagavi exports spices, vegetables, and milk to Goa and coastal south Maharashtra, and in exchange, fresh fish, coconuts, and cashew. The traces of the Portuguese fusion culture are there.

The thick jungles of western ghat start towards the westerly side of the city, down till you go further in all
directions towards Karwar Goa or SawantWadi on Konkan cost, every road has something to
offer and by nature it highly rich and thick jungle with flora fauna and also breath-taking views of various
waterfalls and Ghats, off late many jungle resorts, have mushroomed along with these westbound roads,
they are calm serene staycations, You can feel and enjoy these places with food people, wildlife,
post rains are the best time to venture here, while in rains since it last over 3-4 months may get hinder
your jungle treks.

People are humble and receptive no matter what local language they speak, as in India itself the dialect
changes every 100 KM, here too in Belagavi City, languages namely Kannada, Marathi, Konkani & Hindi is
commonly known and spoken with ease and yes all have their sweet dialects too, yet to say that the
local people’s hearts aren’t divided into terms of so-called language dispute, except for some lingua
fanatics have made some mess to be in the news or doing it for the sake of popularity, well because of such
elements the city sometimes gets tagged as a disputed place.
This is further taking the brunt of ignorance
from the government, sighting some future uncertainties, they are also depriving developmental aspects in
terms of industries and employment, even though with good educational facilities and a good number of
engineering collages, and state technology university headquarters, the lack of opportunities drive the
local youth and techies to venture out for jobs in other metro cities like Pune, Bangalore, and Hyderabad,
and not to miss the fact, be there any festival, there is always a sweet homecoming for the youth of
Belagavi City.
Bagalkot Highway New Alignment
Modern hotels with star ratings, such as those from Marriott, and Fern ITC companies, have made it a popular stopover city recently. In the near future, the Belagavi Raichur four-lane highway project, which is now under construction, will serve as the de facto Goa–Hyderabad route. The city’s proximity to Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Mumbai You can travel anywhere and arrive overnight, and Panjim, the state capital of Goa, which is only 100 kilometers away, would always welcome you within an hour.
Don’t miss the merging of the three states in Belagavi City the next time you’re passing through or have a little layover.
