NWKRTC Red Buses Launch: A Step Towards Modernized Public Transportation
In a landmark moment for the North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC), a new phase has dawned with the induction of 375 fully built buses from Ashok Leyland. The first batch of 50 NWKRTC Red Buses was ceremoniously put on the road for public use today in the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Shri Ramalinga Reddy, Transport Minister, and Shri HK Patil, at the NWKRTC headquarters.
The event at Gadag marked the commencement of Project Unification, aimed at streamlining operations across the State’s three Corporations and Maintaining a Common Livery among all Three Transport Corporations. These NWKRTC Red Buses, adorned in a fresh red and silver livery, symbolize a departure from the neon green design, reflecting a modernized approach to public transportation.
The allocation of these newly launched NWKRTC Red Buses is as follows:
- Gadag Division: 12 Buses
- Hubballi Division: 08 Buses
- Belagavi Division: 06 Buses
- Bagalkot Division: 06 Buses
- Chikkodi Division: 06 Buses
- Dharwad Division: 05 Buses
- Haveri Division: 05 Buses
- Uttara Kannada Division: 02 Buses
These buses, built to comply with Bharat Stage VI emission norms, signify a commitment to environmental sustainability and passenger safety. They have been fully constructed by KMS Bodybuilder under license from Ashok Leyland, a testament to the corporation’s dedication to quality and reliability.
Speaking at the launch, Transport Minister Shri Ramalinga Reddy expressed his satisfaction with the progress made by NWKRTC, emphasizing the importance of modernizing public transport infrastructure to meet the evolving needs of citizens. He praised the corporation’s efforts in implementing Project Unification, which aims to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery.
An unprecedented move for the state, the corporation unveiled a groundbreaking cashless transaction system via UPI in collaboration with PhonePe Company for bus services at the Hubballi Rural 3rd Unit, which has been operational since September 01, 2023. This innovative initiative reflects the corporation’s commitment to embracing modern technology to enhance passenger convenience and streamline transactions.
Shri HK Patil echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the significance of investing in state-of-the-art buses to improve the overall commuting experience for passengers across Karnataka.
The introduction of these 50 new NWKRTC Red Buses marks the beginning of a transformative journey for NWKRTC, as it strives to redefine public transportation standards in the region. With Project Unification underway and further additions to the fleet anticipated, the corporation is poised to usher in a new era of connectivity, accessibility, and sustainability for the people of Karnataka.
