Legislative Council Member MLC Prakash Hukkeri Urges Union Aviation Minister to Resume Flights between Belagavi and Delhi, Shirdi
In a bid to enhance regional connectivity and cater to the needs of thousands of passengers, Member of Legislative Council MLC Prakash Hukkeri has appealed to Union Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia to resume daily flights between Belagavi’s Sambra Airport and Delhi, as well as Shirdi. Hukkeri and his team recently met Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia during his visit to Ganeshawadi village in Maharashtra, which lies adjacent to the Karnataka border, to discuss the pressing matter.

Belagavi, the second state capital of Karnataka, has long been a crucial transit point for travelers from the region, providing convenient access to various states across India. However, the suspension of the Belgaum-Delhi daily flight has inconvenienced personnel working in government offices and passengers employed in industries located in this area, who frequently need to travel to the national capital. Therefore, the restoration of this vital flight connection has become necessary and is of utmost importance.
MLC Prakash Hukkeri highlighted the significance of the Belagavi-Delhi air route, emphasizing how it serves as a lifeline for professionals working in key government offices and passengers involved in various industries. The availability of a direct flight between Belagavi and Delhi not only streamlines their travel but also fosters economic growth and regional development.
Furthermore, the demand for a daily flight connection between Belagavi and Shirdi has gained traction due to the heavy influx of devotees visiting the renowned Sri Sai Baba Darshan in Shirdi, Maharashtra. This popular pilgrimage site attracts a multitude of devotees from the border area. Establishing a regular flight service between Belagavi and Shirdi would not only facilitate convenient travel for devotees but also contribute to the tourism industry of both regions.
MLC Prakash Hukkeri urged Minister Scindia to take immediate action in launching flights on the Belagavi-Delhi and Belagavi-Shirdi sectors. Recognizing the immense benefits that such air connectivity would bring to the region, Hukkeri emphasized the urgent need for the resumption of these flights to ensure the smooth movement of passengers and bolster the economic activities of the area.
The appeal made by MLC Prakash Hukkeri aligns with the government’s vision of strengthening regional connectivity and promoting tourism. The Union Aviation Minister, Jyotiraditya Scindia, has been known for his proactive approach to expanding air travel networks and enhancing regional connectivity. It is anticipated that the minister will consider the appeal seriously and take necessary steps to restore the vital flight connections between Belagavi, Delhi, and Shirdi.
The resumption of daily flights between Belagavi and Delhi, as well as Belagavi and Shirdi, would not only cater to the needs of government officials and industrial workers but also benefit countless devotees visiting Shirdi. This move would undoubtedly have a positive impact on the socio-economic development of the region by promoting business opportunities, stimulating tourism, and fostering cultural exchanges.
As the appeal from MLC Prakash Hukkeri gains momentum, aviation enthusiasts, government officials, and local residents remain optimistic about the outcome. The resumption of these flight routes would not only bridge the geographical gaps but also strengthen the bond between Karnataka and Maharashtra, opening doors to countless opportunities and experiences for travelers and devotees alike.
The requests made by Legislative Council member Prakash Hukkeri to the Union Aviation Minister, Jyotiraditya Scindia, to reinstate daily flights between Belagavi and
Delhi, as well as Belagavi and Shirdi, reflects the pressing need for enhanced regional connectivity and the convenience of passengers and devotees. The resumption of these flights would undoubtedly contribute to the growth and development of the region, fostering economic activities, and bolstering tourism prospects.
