This upgrade is aimed at providing passengers with enhanced comfort, improved safety, and increased stability during high-speed travel. Effective from June 15, 2023, the train 12779 originating from Vasco-Da-Gama, and from June 17, 2023, from 12780 Hazrat Nizamuddin, the revamped Goa Express promises to offer a seamless and luxurious travel experience.
Recognizing the need to keep up with evolving passenger expectations and technological advancements in the railway industry, South Western Railway has taken this proactive step to convert the existing conventional rakes of Goa Express into LHB coaches. The LHB coaches, known for their superior design and construction, offer numerous advantages over traditional coaches, including enhanced passenger safety features, reduced noise levels, and improved ride quality.

The upgraded Goa Express will feature a revised composition, carefully curated to cater to the diverse needs of travelers.
Coach Composition
The new configuration will comprise One AC First Class Coach, Two AC Two-tier coaches, Four AC Three-tier coaches, Four AC Three-tier Economy Sleeper Coaches, Two Sleeper Class Coaches, Two Second Class Coaches, One AC Hot Buffet Car, One Second Class Cum Luggage & Brake Van, One Brake Luggage cum Generator Car, and One High capacity parcel van.
Coach Composition: 1A: 1, 2A: 2, 3A: 4, 3E: 4, SL: 2, GC/IInd Class: 2, AC Pantry: 1, SLR: 1, EOG: 1 and HCPV: 1. Total 19 LHB Coaches.
This thoughtfully planned composition ensures a balanced blend of various classes, providing options for different travel budgets and preferences.
Motive Behind Increment of AC Coaches
One of the primary motivations behind the increase in the number of AC coaches is to address the issue of stability during high-speed travel. As the train’s speed increases, wind gushing into the windows of sleeper coaches creates resistance, leading to instability. Passengers often experience discomfort and inconvenience due to this resistance caused by the wind. By incrementing the number of AC coaches, South Western Railway aims to mitigate this problem and provide a smoother and more stable journey for all passengers.
The addition of AC coaches will not only enhance the stability of the rakes but also elevate the overall travel experience. Air-conditioned coaches offer a more tranquil and comfortable environment, shielded from external factors such as wind, dust, and noise. Passengers will enjoy a refreshing and pleasant atmosphere throughout their journey, allowing them to relax, unwind, or focus on their work or leisure activities.
SWR’s decision to upgrade Goa Express with LHB coaches aligns with its commitment to providing top-notch amenities and services to passengers. With improved safety features, reduced noise levels, and superior ride quality, the LHB coaches are sure to leave a lasting impression on travelers. The phased introduction of AC coaches will not only enhance stability but also cater to the growing demand for premium travel experiences.
Passengers eagerly anticipate the commencement of the revamped Goa Express, which promises to deliver an amalgamation of comfort, luxury, and speed. The introduction of LHB coaches and the revised coach composition herald a new era for this iconic train, showcasing South Western Railway’s dedication to keeping pace with evolving passenger expectations. Traveling between Vasco-Da-Gama and Hazrat Nizamuddin will soon be a delight, as passengers embark on a seamless and enjoyable journey aboard the upgraded Goa Express.
The conversion of Goa Express to LHB coaches signifies a significant milestone in South Western Railway’s pursuit of passenger comfort, safety, and high-speed travel. The revamped train, with its revised coach composition, aims to provide a stable and pleasurable travel experience to all passengers. As the winds of change blow through the windows of Goa Express, a new chapter unfolds, promising a brighter and more delightful journey for those traversing the scenic route between Vasco-Da-Gama and Hazrat Nizamuddin.
