Commissioner Iada Martin Marbaniang Ensures Preparedness for Electoral Duties
In a significant development for the law enforcement landscape of Belagavi, Meghalaya’s seasoned IPS officer, Iada Martin Marbaniang, has assumed the role of Commissioner of Police for the city. With a distinguished career spanning over a decade, Marbaniang brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new position.
Having graduated from the prestigious 2009-batch of officers, Iada Martin Marbaniang has served in various capacities across Karnataka, demonstrating exemplary leadership and dedication to duty. Prior to his appointment as Commissioner of Police in Belagavi, Marbaniang held the pivotal position of DIG Recruitment in Bengaluru. His previous postings include serving as Superintendent of Police in Kalaburagi, heading the Police Training College in Yadgir, and fulfilling responsibilities as Superintendent of Police in CID.
Marbaniang’s appointment comes in the wake of the retirement of SN Sidramappa on February 29, which created a vacancy in the Commissioner of Police position. He succeeded Vikas Kumar Vikash, IGP, Northern Range, who was temporarily holding the charge of the city.
Upon assuming office, Commissioner Marbaniang wasted no time in acquainting himself with the operational dynamics of Belagavi’s police force. He embarked on a comprehensive tour, visiting various police stations within the city to assess their functionality and cleanliness. Additionally, he personally inspected the duty roster of the staff, ensuring adherence to protocols and standards of professionalism.
With the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections on the horizon, Marbaniang also made it a priority to visit key check posts, underscoring the importance of maintaining vigilance and security measures during this crucial period.
