The South Western Railways (SWR) has recently announced that they will be changing the composition of Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches for various trains running under their jurisdiction. This decision has been taken as a measure to standardize the rakes across the network.
The LHB coaches, which are currently being used in the SWR network, are known for their superior design and comfort. However, the decision to change the composition of these coaches has been taken to ensure that all trains running under the SWR have the same rake standardization. This will ensure that all trains have the same level of comfort and safety for the passengers.
Effective January 20th-21st, 2023, these trains will run with four rakes of 21 coaches, each with a revised composition. The new composition includes one AC First Class Coach, one AC Two Tier Coach, four AC Three Tier Coaches, ten Three Tier Sleeper Coaches, three Second Class Coaches, and two Brake Luggage & Generator Cars.
This change represents an increase in the number of AC Three Tier Coaches, while the number of Three Tier Sleeper Coaches has decreased. The number of other coach types remains unchanged.
