The ISAC, a brainchild of the Smart Cities Mission under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, has consistently been at the forefront of identifying and celebrating trailblazing urban initiatives that are steering India towards sustainable development and inclusive growth. The event serves as a platform to honor pioneering city strategies, projects, and ideas that exemplify excellence and set new benchmarks in the field of urban planning.
Belagavi Smart City Ltd victory in clinching the Best Zonal Smart City Award stands as a testament to its tireless dedication towards advancing urban living standards and fostering innovation. The ISAC, now in its fourth edition, witnessed an overwhelming participation of 80 qualifying smart cities across India. A total of 845 nominations were meticulously evaluated through a rigorous five-stage assessment process. This involved meticulous pre-screening, a jury evaluation by experts from the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA), proponents’ presentations, and a final jury assessment chaired by MoHUA directors and esteemed subject matter experts.
Belagavi Smart City Ltd’s visionary initiatives, aligning with the smart city ethos, have catapulted it to the number one position in the National/Zonal City Award category. The city’s dedication to sustainable development, inclusivity, safety, health, and collaborative urban planning has set a new standard for smart cities across the nation.
Among the 66 final winners across various categories, Belagavi’s exemplary performance in urban innovation and development shines brightly. With 35 other commendable projects and initiatives honored in the Project Award category, six groundbreaking ideas recognized in the Innovation Award category, 13 cities celebrated in the National/Zonal City Award category, five outstanding achievements highlighted in the State/UT Award category, and seven remarkable partnerships acknowledged in the Partner Award category, the ISAC 2022 awards celebrate a wide spectrum of accomplishments in urban development.
