Prime Minister Narendra Modi to perform Bhumi Pujan of Belagavi Raichur NH748A Project
On the 11th of March 2024, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is set to mark a significant milestone in the infrastructure development of India. Amidst his visit to Gurugram, Haryana, the Prime Minister will virtually inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of 112 National Highway projects spanning the nation, collectively worth around Rs. One lakh crore. Among these projects, the spotlight shines brightly on the Belagavi Raichur NH748A Project, a testament to the government’s commitment to bolstering connectivity and fostering economic growth.
This flagship project, valued at approximately Rs. 8000 crore, holds immense promise for the regions it traverses. Serving as a crucial artery within the Panaji-Hyderabad EC10 corridor, it links pivotal industrial hubs such as Panaji, Belgavi, Raichur, and Hyderabad. These areas are renowned for their diverse economic contributions, ranging from fishing, tourism, and agriculture to IT, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare.
The execution of the Belagavi Raichur NH748A Project falls under the purview of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), with Ekem Infra Projects – DHD Infracon JV emerging as the winning bidder for packages 3 & 4 of the construction. This expressway, part of the larger EC-10 project, epitomizes progress, comprising a 4-lane access-controlled highway with paved shoulders.
The meticulous planning behind this venture is evident in the detailed project report (DPR) crafted by Feedback Infrastructure – Prasuna Infra JV under the Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase-I program. This initiative, aimed at enhancing freight movement efficiency and bolstering port connectivity, underscores the government’s commitment to propelling economic prosperity.
Tenders for the construction of packages 3 & 4 were invited under the hybrid annuity model (HAM) in December 2023, with a strict deadline of 2 years. The ensuing response was overwhelming, with 18 firms vying for Package 3 and 14 firms for Package 4. Such enthusiasm from the private sector underscores the project’s significance and potential for growth.
Upon completion, the Belagavi-Raichur corridor promises to revolutionize travel, slashing journey times to approximately three and a half hours. Moreover, it’s poised to catalyze socio-economic development, create job opportunities, and stimulate trade and commerce across the country.
In summary, the inauguration of the Belagavi Raichur NH748A Project stands as a testament to India’s unwavering commitment to progress and prosperity. As Prime Minister Modi ushers in this new era of connectivity, the nation moves one step closer towards realizing its full potential on the global stage.
