Belagavi Dharwad Railway Line’s Foundation Stone to be laid in January 2023 by dynamic PM Modi

Belagavi Dharwad Direct Railway Line ground Breaking Ceremony Soon.

The foundation stone of the long-awaited Belagavi Dharwad Railway line, the new direct rail project is yet to be laid. This project was proposed by the Late Member of Parliament Shri Suresh Angadi, the then Union Minister of State for Railways. It was his dream project.

Now after Two Years the foundation stone of Belagavi Dharwad Railway line will be laid in 2023.

Funds Allocated to this Project:

50 crores were earmarked for this project in the Union Budget 2021-22. The implementation of the project is delayed due to the problem of the land acquisition process. The Karnataka government has also allocated Rs 463 crore for the new railway project.

Current Status of the Project:

The implementation of Belagavi Dharwad Railway line was envisioned in 2007. In 2019, a proposal was submitted to the government about this new railway project. The central government had agreed to the project.

When will the ground-breaking ceremony happen?

Prahlad Joshi, a Dharwad MP and the Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, has been informed about this. The Dharwad-Kittur-Belagavi direct train project’s foundation stone will probably be laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On January 12, at 1:30 pm, Prime Minister Modi will touch down at the Hubli Airport to launch the Youth Festival. and is anticipated to formally launch this railway project. Narendra Modi, the prime minister, will also visit Belagavi.

A recent project is the direct rail line between Dharwad, Kittur, and Belagavi. If this project is completed, both time and money will be saved. 75 kilometers is the distance between Belagavi from Dharwad. However, trains currently depart from Belagavi and pass through Londa because there is no direct rail route. It is roughly 130 km. The current rail traffic takes 3 hours to travel. If a direct railway line is built, this distance will be shortened to 73 km. According to estimates, the new Railway Line’s capacity to carry traffic between Belagavi and Dharwad will be one hour.

Number of Stations on the New Railway Line:

A total of 11 Stations will be built. Construction of Belagavi Dharwad Railway line, the direct rail line will connect three cities (Belagavi-Dharwad-Hubli). It is estimated that if this line is constructed, it will help in the quick transportation of goods along with passengers. A total of 11 stations will be constructed on this route. The train departing from Belagavi City will touch Desur, K. K. Koppa, Hirebagewadi, and M. K. Hubli. It will reach Dharwad via M.K. Hubli, Hulicatte, Channammana Kittur, Tegura, Mummigatti, and Karakoppa.

50:50 Partnership between the Central and State governments:

Central and state governments will share 50:50 funding for the Belagavi Dharwad Railway Line, the direct rail project. The Karnataka government will provide the land required for the project. When the plan was first formulated, the target was set to be completed by the end of 2022. But now the foundation stone is being laid in 2023. The project is expected to be completed within two years. According to the information given by the officials, there are agricultural lands at several places on the railway line, which is the reason for the delay in land acquisition.
