Belagavi Dharwad Mysuru Express launched from Platform 2 of New Belagavi Railway Station by MP Mangal Angadi

Belagavi witnessed a momentous occasion as the Inaugural Belagavi Dharwad Mysuru Express was flagged off by MP Mangal Angadi from Belagavi Railway Station. The train’s first scheduled Primary Maintenance was delayed, but the Belagavi Core Development Group members patiently waited for it to be completed before decorating the lead locomotive and coaches with posters highlighting the train’s inaugural run. Bakers from the Hassan Bakery Association also joined in the celebrations.

This direct train service between Belagavi and Mysuru provides a much-needed connectivity boost for the people of these two cities. Train 07358 departs from Belagavi at 7:30 pm and arrives in Dharwad at 9:55 pm, where it gets converted into the Mysuru Overnight Express, designated as Train No. 17302. Despite being a direct train, AC coaches are locked between Dharwad and Belagavi due to political pressure from the Dharwad Constituency.

However, citizens have taken to social media platforms to express their discontent with this decision and to call for AC coaches to be allowed on the entire Belagavi-Mysuru route for Belagavi Dharwad Mysuru Express. The demand has been fueled by the sweltering heat of summer months in the region and the discomfort of traveling in non-AC coaches.

The Belagavi Core Development Group members, who played a pivotal role in making the inaugural run a success, expressed hope that the train would become a regular feature in the coming months. Speaking to the media, a member of the group said, “We are thrilled to have played a part in the inaugural run of this important train service. We hope that it will soon become a regular feature and provide a much-needed connectivity boost for the people of Belagavi and Mysuru.”
