MRO facility soon at Belagavi Airport
Belagavi Airport, IXG:
Soon, the Belagavi airport is expected to develop into a hub for MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) of aircraft, directly bringing in revenue.
The Delhi-based private company Aviation Connectivity & Infrastructure Developers Private Limited has recently received a land lease at Belagavi Airport for a hangar and apron facility from the Airports Authority of India (AAI).

What is MRO?
Any industry that uses machinery to perform operations needs maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services. The term “MRO aviation” in the aviation industry refers to all the operations intended to keep aircraft ready to fly at all times.
There are various types of MRO aviation facilities on-site at airports all around the world. Usually, the airframe or engines of the aircraft are the focus of maintenance operations. However, component MRO is now included in MRO aviation activities.
There are MRO services that must be provided at airports and occasionally at specially designated off-airport facilities, depending on the type of service required. For instance, when the aircraft is parked at the airport, tasks like routine in-service inspections, daily check actions, or frequent troubleshooting can be completed. However, if avionics, radios, or other removable components need maintenance, they can be taken off the plane and transferred somewhere else for the necessary MRO services. There are three primary categories of MRO operations:
Maintenance: When work is done to keep an aircraft in top shape, it is called maintenance. Although no issues or malfunctions are noticed, the aircraft is nonetheless serviced to keep it in operational fitness.
Repair: Because aircraft are intricate machines with numerous moving components and linked software, they frequently need repairs. Repairs are made if an instrument panel doesn’t function properly, there is a dent, an engine problem, or a damaged window.
Overhaul: After a certain amount of time in flight operations, the majority of aircraft require overhaul because of their high rate of wear and tear. Aircraft are disassembled piece by piece, with each component examined, before being put back together as part of the overhaul process. The overhaul procedure enables a thorough examination of all the aircraft’s external and internal components, and it is a crucial step in the management and improvement of the aircraft’s lifecycle.

The Airport Director of Belagavi Airport Shri Rajesh Kumar Maurya tweeted & conveyed the message of the availability of land space at BELAGAVI AIRPORT.
Aircraft Type Supported are ERJ145, Legacy 650, Falcon 7x, Challenger 605, and other similar aircraft types.
Advanced technologies will be used to build this specific MRO hangar. In addition to providing advantages to aircraft operators, this facility aids Belagavi Airport in accomplishing its objectives for good development and environmental sustainability.
