Amidst Honour and Remembrance, Patriots Embark on a Journey from SMVT Bengaluru to Delhi in Amrit Kalash Yatra Express Train
The Amrit Kalash Yatra embarked on a solemn journey from SMVT Bengaluru to H Nizamuddin Special Express, carrying the spirit of patriotism and a heartfelt tribute to the national heroes who devoted their lives to the nation. This grand procession, serving as a part of the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ (MMMD) campaign, witnessed an outpouring of emotions as it made its way towards Delhi.

The Amrit Kalash Yatra special express train, which left from Belagavi, was welcomed by dignitaries including Member of Parliament Shri Iranna Kadadi, MLA of Belgaum South Shri Abhay Patil, and the Mayor of Belagavi City Corporation. The train will transport around 20,000 participants from all corners of the country, each carrying soil from their home villages as a symbol of their connection to the land and their gratitude to the brave soldiers of the Indian Army who sacrificed their lives for the nation.

Union Culture Secretary, Govind Mohan, shared that this effort is part of the second phase of the government’s ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign. According to him, the goal is to collect the soil from every household across the nation, ensuring that no corner is left untouched. In cases where soil is not available, people are encouraged to contribute a grain of rice. This collected “mitti” will be utilized in the creation of the Amrit Vatika in the national capital.
The letter from the Ministry of Culture highlights the significance of the Amrit Vatika and Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav memorials as a testament to the spirit of valour and sacrifice of the “veers” who made freedom and progress a reality for India. It is a poignant symbol of the unwavering dedication of those who gave their all for the nation’s sake.
As the Amrit Kalash Yatra continues its journey towards Delhi, it is a poignant reminder of the collective homage India pays to its heroes and the enduring gratitude for their sacrifices. The ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign is a touching and meaningful tribute that binds the nation together in its memory and appreciation of those who have secured its freedom and progress.
