Shri SN Siddaramappa Takes Charge as Inspector General of Police and Commissioner of Police for Belagavi City
In a recent development, Shri SN Siddaramappa, an esteemed member of the 2005 Karnataka Cadre batch of the Indian Police Service (IPS), has been appointed as the new Inspector General of Police and Commissioner of Police for Belagavi City. This decision, made under the authority’s orders, comes into effect immediately and will continue until further notice.
The position of Inspector General of Police and Commissioner of Police, Belagavi City, has been elevated in status and responsibilities, and is now deemed equivalent to the cadre post of Inspector General of Police, Criminal Investigation Department, as per Rule 12 of the IPS (Pay) Rules 2016, included in Schedule II of the said rules.

Shri SN Siddaramappa, with his extensive experience in the field of law enforcement, is well-equipped to undertake the challenging role of overseeing the police operations in Belagavi City. Prior to his current appointment, he held several distinguished positions, including Managing Director of KEONICS, Deputy Commissioner of Police in Bengaluru, and Additional Superintendent of Police in Bidar.
The position had remained vacant for nearly a month following the transfer of M.B. Boralingaiah. During this period, Inspector-General of Police, Northern Range, Vikas Kumar Vikash, assumed the additional responsibility of Commissioner of Police for a brief period.
Shri SN Siddaramappa’s appointment is expected to bring a fresh wave of energy and expertise to the law enforcement efforts in Belagavi City. With his wealth of experience, he is well-versed in handling complex situations and ensuring the safety and security of the citizens.
