Stakeholder chairing KDP Meeting
KDP Meeting: Stakeholders Rally for Expedited Resolution of Land Acquisition Woes
In a pivotal progress review KDP Meeting held on Friday, March 1, 2024, at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, District In-charge Minister Satish Jarakiholi spearheaded discussions on the ongoing development of the Belagavi-Dharwad Railway Project. Amidst the gathering, concerns were raised regarding the timely completion of the project, particularly addressing the contentious issues surrounding land acquisition.
Minister Jarakiholi underlined the critical importance of swiftly resolving the challenges obstructing the Belagavi-Dharwad Railway Works. With the project inching closer to fruition, he emphasized the imperative nature of finding viable solutions, despite encountering resistance from local farmers regarding land acquisition processes and compensation disputes.
Despite fervent protests and appeals for route alterations due to concerns raised by farmers, the railway department reaffirmed that altering the designated route was not feasible. Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil elucidated that while efforts are underway to assuage the grievances of farmers, offering additional compensation might not be viable due to certain constraints in the KDP Meeting.

Furthermore, only 150 acres of land have been successfully acquired, indicating a significant gap in progress. Member of Parliament Mangala Angadi emphasized the urgency in expediting the remaining land acquisition processes to avert potential delays in the completion of the Belagavi-Dharwad Rail Project.
MP Mangala Angadi’s sentiments were echoed by Rajya Sabha member Iranna Kadadi, who stressed the paramount importance of promptly resolving the lingering land acquisition issues to ensure the seamless progression of the project.
The proceedings of the meeting underscored the collective determination and commitment of stakeholders towards overcoming hurdles and advancing the Belagavi-Dharwad Railway Project. As discussions concluded, it became evident that concerted efforts would be intensified to navigate the challenges and expedite the development of this crucial infrastructure, vital for the region’s socio-economic growth and connectivity.
