Belagavi Airport Set to Soar to New Heights International Airport Standards with Construction of State-of-the-Art Terminal Building
In response to the escalating demands of air travel, plans have been set in motion for the construction of a cutting-edge International Airport Standards terminal building at Belagavi Airport. Scheduled to commence with a Bhoomi Poojan ceremony on March 10, 2024, the project promises to revolutionize the airport’s infrastructure and enhance passenger experience.
The proposed terminal, referred to as Terminal Building #NTB, is not just an expansion but a visionary leap toward modernization. Encompassing various ancillary works including a parking area, service road, and a new approach road from the highway, the project aims to cater to the burgeoning needs of travelers while adhering to sustainable principles. Additionally, the design incorporates elements that pay homage to the local context, drawing inspiration from the region’s geography, landmarks, culture, art, and architecture.
With an estimated cost pegged at Rs. 265 Crore, the International Airport Standard NTB is poised to be a game-changer for Belagavi Airport. Notably, the terminal is designed to achieve a 5-Star GRIHA rating, underlining the commitment towards environmental responsibility and energy efficiency.
KMV Projects, emerging as the lowest bidders, bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the table, promising seamless execution of the ambitious transformation of Belagavi Airport into International Airport. With a proven track record in delivering high-quality infrastructure projects, their selection underscores a commitment to efficiency and excellence.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the commencement of the project, marking a significant milestone in the airport’s journey towards modernization. The inauguration ceremony, set for March 10 at 12 noon, underscores the government’s dedication to fostering infrastructural development across the nation.
The International Airport NTB boasts a myriad of features geared towards enhancing operational efficiency and passenger convenience. Equipped with four aerobridges, a lift, and a peak-hour capacity to handle 2,400 passengers departing and arriving simultaneously, the terminal is primed to accommodate the escalating footfall with ease. Furthermore, the parking system, capable of accommodating nine planes simultaneously, coupled with ample parking space for cars, bikes, and other vehicles, underscores the meticulous planning aimed at addressing the holistic needs of travelers.
Commenting on the ambitious project, Rajya Sabha member Iranna Kadadi expressed optimism, stating, “There is an opportunity and attempts are being made to upgrade this airport to International Airport standards.” His words reflect the collective vision to position Belagavi Airport as a premier aviation hub, fostering economic growth and connectivity in the region.
As the construction of the new terminal unfolds, anticipation mounts among stakeholders and passengers alike, heralding a new era of progress and prosperity for Belagavi Airport and the communities it serves.
