
Shri Iranna Kadadi, Elected Officials, and the Aviation Community Celebrate the Revival of the Belagavi-Delhi (DEL IXG) Route
In a celebration marked by grandeur and enthusiasm, IndiGo Airlines reinstated its direct flight service between Belagavi and the national capital, Delhi, (DEL IXG Route) on the 5th of October, 2023. This renewed connection offers the residents of Karnataka’s second capital a seamless and convenient link to the heart of the country.

The auspicious occasion was further elevated with the inauguration of the recently commissioned Instrument Landing System (ILS) at Belagavi Airport, enhancing safety and precision in air travel.
Shri Iranna Kadadi, a distinguished Member of Parliament from the Rajya Sabha, graced the inaugural flight from Delhi to Belagavi. Mrs. Richa Goswami, the Air Traffic Controller (ATC) at Belagavi Airport, also embarked on this historic journey, accompanied by her family.

During his address, Shri Iranna Kadadi expressed his gratitude towards the Belagavi Core Development Group for their relentless efforts in securing the flight’s reinstatement, follow-up, and event promotion. This collaboration has brought a significant boon to the region’s connectivity.

It arrived in Belagavi at 5.55 pm, carrying 116 passengers, representing a remarkable 65% occupancy rate. In the return journey, the same flight, designated as 6E-2379, departed from Belagavi at 6.54 pm and touched down in Delhi at 9.00 pm, with 134 passengers on board, constituting an impressive 75% occupancy rate on its inaugural day.
The celebratory event of DEL IXG Flight was meticulously organized by IndiGo in close coordination with Belagavi Airport, the Airports Authority of India (AAI), and the Belagavi Core Development Group. Festivities commenced with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, the lighting of a diya, and a cake-cutting ceremony presided over by Hon’ble MP RS Iranna Kadadi, MP Lok Sabha Smt. Mangal Suresh Angadi, MLC Prakash Hukkeri, Belagavi North MLA Asif Sait, and Belagavi Airport Director Shri S Thiyagarajan.

Adding a local touch to the event, Belagavi-based pilot Akshay Patil, a first officer with IndiGo, delivered a heartfelt announcement in Kannada on the DEL IXG Flight, thanking MP Iranna Kadadi for his relentless efforts in re-establishing this crucial flight connection. Furthermore, Akshay Patil appealed to MP Mangala Angadi to consider renaming Belagavi Airport as “Kittur Rani Chennamma Airport,” a suggestion that received a positive response from the elected official.

The reinstatement of the Delhi-Belagavi (DEL IXG) flight route is not only a testament to the concerted efforts of the Belagavi Core Development Group but also a significant milestone in the region’s aviation landscape. It promises enhanced connectivity and convenience for travelers, opening up new opportunities for trade, tourism, and economic development.
