According to the India Meteorological Department, Mandous strengthened into a severe cyclonic storm on Thursday evening but is now projected to pass the coast at Mamallapuram as a cyclonic storm tonight. Between Puducherry and Sriharikota, wind gusts of up to 85 kmph may be experienced. Wind speeds may range from 65 to 75 kmph. As of December 9, a red alert about wind speeds has been issued for all coastal districts from Tiruvallur to Nagapattinam. Due to cyclone storm “Mandous” over the Bay of Bengal, several areas of Maharashtra may experience unusually heavy rainfall over the course of the next 48 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned on Friday.

With mid-level winds at play, one good part is clear Blue sky all day with possibly some scattered fringe cloud bands moving across.
