Belagavi Border Dispute 2022:
The two ministers had been supposed to meet with Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti members in Belagavi, Karnataka, on Tuesday to discuss the long-standing Belagavi border dispute.
Ministers from Maharashtra named to coordinate the state’s border dispute with Karnataka, Chandrakant Patil, and Shambhuraj Desai, are unlikely to travel to Belagavi on Tuesday because they both have meetings booked throughout the day in Maharashtra.
Ministers had been warned not to visit Belagavi by Chief Minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai. “Coming when there is such a situation between the two states is not proper. We’ve already given the order to stay away. According to Bommai, “We will deal in the same manner as the Government of Karnataka has when such efforts have been made repeatedly in the past.
The two ministers had been supposed to meet with Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti members in Belagavi, Karnataka, on Tuesday to discuss the long-standing Belagavi border dispute.
The Belagavi district deputy commissioner Nilesh Patil had issued an order prohibiting their entry into the district, under section 144. The CM claimed that he had instructed authorities to take appropriate legal action in the event that the Maharashtra ministers showed up there. As a preventative measure, security has been increased in the border regions after Bommai gave the revenue and police department officials instructions to make sure that law and order is maintained.
The district’s condition has gotten more serious as a result of their words. If they enter the district, the situation with regard to law and order will be affected. He explained that there is a threat to the ministers of Maharashtra’s security.
We anticipate that they will willingly postpone the visit. Otherwise, we’ll have to take action,” said DC Nitesh Patil.
Similar restrictions will be issued this time as well, he claimed, similar to how past orders barred visits by ministers and MPs.
The Supreme Court is now hearing the Maharashtra-Karnataka Belagavi Border dispute. In addition, there have been instances of Karnataka bus vandalism and damage in Maharashtra. Ministers and MPs from Maharashtra have been prohibited from visiting Belagavi at this critical time.
“We were prepared to travel to Belagavi on December 3, but we postponed our trip since a few Dalit organizations urged us to travel on December 6. We have chosen to postpone our visit because December 6 is Mahaparinirvana day, which is the anniversary of Dr. BR Ambedkar’s passing. On such a day, there shouldn’t be any issues with law and order. The Karnataka government should have given us permission to honor Dr. Ambedkar in Belagavi, said Shambhuraj Desai.
A close asociate of Chandrakant Patil responded when asked, “The minister spent Monday in Pune and would be in Mumbai on Tuesday for a lot of engagements. The minister promised to attend all of the meetings, according to his official schedule. I am not aware of any travel arrangements he has made to Belagavi.”
Since the state of Maharashtra was founded in 1960, it has been embroiled in a conflict with the state of Karnataka over the status of the Belagavi district and 80 other Marathi-speaking villages that are under its jurisdiction known as Belagavi Border Dispute.
