Aequs Belagavi Partnership: Elevating Indian Aerospace on the Global Stage
In a groundbreaking development, Aequs Belagavi, the aerospace components maker based in Belagavi, announced on Wednesday that it has successfully secured a decade-long contract with European aviation giant Airbus. The agreement encompasses the supply of critical components for the A320 family, A330neo, and A350 aircraft, cementing Aequs’ role as a key player in the global aerospace manufacturing landscape.
Under the terms of the agreement, Aequs Belagavi will be responsible for manufacturing detailed parts, including those with bench assembly for wings, fuselage, and pylons for the specified aircraft models. This achievement is particularly significant as Aequs has been a trusted supplier to Airbus for over a decade, with Airbus being its first original equipment manufacturer (OEM) customer. Aequs has consistently held the position of a Preferred Detailed Parts Partner (D2P) to Airbus.

The announcement marks a major milestone not only for Aequs but also for the Indian aerospace industry. Belagavi, where Aequs is based, now emerges as a key player in the country’s ambitious Make-in-India initiative. The city’s aerospace manufacturing hub, hosting Aequs as a special economic zone (SEZ), has become an integral part of Airbus’s strategy to deepen its Make-in-India drive.
The partnership between Aequs Belagavi and Airbus is expected to significantly contribute to the growth and global recognition of the Indian aerospace sector. The company’s longstanding association with Airbus underscores the reliability and quality of Aequs’ manufacturing capabilities.
Commenting on the milestone, Aravind Melligeri, CEO of Aequs, stated, “This contract is not just a testament to Aequs’ capabilities but also a reflection of the growing prominence of Belagavi and the Indian aerospace industry on the global stage. We are proud to be a part of Airbus’s journey and contribute to their manufacturing excellence.”
Belagavi, located in the southern state of Karnataka, is now poised to play a pivotal role in the production and supply chain of critical aerospace components. The partnership with Airbus is expected to create employment opportunities, stimulate economic growth, and position Belagavi as a key aerospace manufacturing hub in the region.
The collaborative efforts between Aequs Belagavi and Airbus showcase the success of the ‘Make in India’ initiative, encouraging indigenous manufacturing and fostering self-reliance in the aerospace sector. As India’s aerospace industry continues to grow, Belagavi stands tall as a beacon of success, exemplifying the nation’s capabilities in cutting-edge manufacturing and technological expertise.
