A Spectacular Celebration of Nationhood at Belagavi Airport’s 77th Independence Day Event
The 77th Independence Day was commemorated with grandeur and patriotism at the Belagavi Airport premises. The event, organized with meticulous detail and enthusiasm, showcased a diverse range of performances and activities that paid homage to the spirit of unity and freedom.
The day commenced at 9 am with an inspiring flag hoisting ceremony, where the Guard of Honor was proudly presented by dedicated Fire personnel, KSISF officers, security personnel, and even a specially trained dog from the bomb squad and narcotics team. The awe-inspiring sight set the tone for the day’s festivities.
The 77th Independence Day celebration saw a dynamic mix of performances, starting with a mesmerizing rendition by Teja, captivating the audience with his unparalleled talent. Airport Director’s poignant speech and the Chairman of the Airports Authority of India’s message reading further added a patriotic touch to the event.
The cultural program of 77th Independence Day unfolded with Airport Director Shri S.Thiyagarajan offering insights into the airport’s significance. Aptech Aviation Academy took center stage with a vibrant Ganesh Vandana dance, followed by a series of eloquent speeches, soul-stirring solo songs, group dances, and the elegance of Bharatnatyam. Each performance resonated with the essence of the occasion.

Vision Fly Aviation Academy brought forth an enthralling blend of plays, songs, classical folk dances, and daring pyramid stunts. The young talents from Mother Teresa School in Sambra enthralled the audience with their rendition of Kannada Nada Geetey, featuring a remarkable patriotic song by Abdul, a LKG student. Abdul’s performance shed light on unity transcending religious divides.
The event radiated community spirit, as Virat and Smitha from Poddar International School volunteered alongside Indigo and Star Airlines staff for a fusion dance and song performance. Sargent Atul’s soul-stirring patriotic song, representing the Airforce, added another emotion to the celebration.

Redbird Flying Training Academy left its mark with a group song and speech that celebrated the nation’s progress. The event culminated in the heartwarming distribution of prizes and certificates by APD Sir and HODs to the winners and participants of the aviation safety week.
The exceptional efforts of dedicated airport staff were also acknowledged, as the “Best Employees of the Year” from various agencies including airlines, fire departments, communication departments, and air traffic controllers were honored.

The 77th Independence Day event was deftly hosted by Ms. Richa Goswami, Manager ATC, and Mr. Prashant Gawas, JE ATC, who themselves received recognition for their contributions. The logistical arrangements were orchestrated by Mr. B. Reddy, Terminal Manager, along with diligent efforts from the Fire Department, Electrical Team represented by Vinay, and the housekeeping department led by Sup Millind Ji, among others.

A special commendation was extended to all the HODs for their unwavering cooperation and support. At the same time, the students of Vision Fly and Aptech Aviation Academy were appreciated for their vibrant Rangoli displays that adorned various areas of the airport.
This year’s 77th Independence Day celebration theme, “Nation First Always First,” echoed throughout the event. The Airport Director, Sh. S.Thiyagarajan, officiating ATC In-Charge, Mr. Vinod Arya, Electrical Engineering Incharge, Mr. Sudhakar Naik, CNS Incharge, Mr. PS Desai, Operations In-charge, Mr. Sudesh Ragala, Fire In-charge, Mr. Mohini Shankar, Civil In-Charge, Mrs. Simi Selan, CSO – Mr. A. Selvam, and KSISF In-Charge, Sh. Babu Chougala, all stood as symbolic figures of unity and dedication.

As the celebrations concluded, the atmosphere was charged with patriotic fervor and a renewed sense of unity, echoing the core values that the nation’s independence stands for.
