Scheduled Maintenance of HESCOM’s Transformer Overhaul to Temporarily Affect Power and Water Supply in Belagavi
In a planned scheduled maintenance operation, the Hubli Electricity Supply Company (HESCOM) is set to temporarily suspend water and power supply in Belagavi from August 25th to 27th, 2023. The interruption is necessary for servicing a pivotal 10MVA 110/33KV Power transformer at the 110KV MUSS Hidakal Dam. The transformer plays a critical role in powering the entire Belagavi water supply system, necessitating the temporary halt in operations for the periodical overhaul of the On-Load Tap Changer (OLTC).
Impact on Water and Power Supply: During the scheduled maintenance period, the normal water supply to various key locations will be disrupted. This includes the Belagavi water supply pump houses at Jackwell, Kundargi, and Tummaragudi. Consequently, the entire Belagavi city, including the 24×7 Demo zone, will experience an unavoidable interruption in water supply.
Areas Affected: The shutdown will have an impact on multiple areas within the city. In the southern region, localities such as Majgaon, Nanavadi, Chidambar Nagar, Shahpur, Vadagaon, and Old Belgaum will face supply disruptions. Similarly, in the northern part of the city, residents of Sahyadri Nagar, Kuvempu Nagar, TV station area, Sadashiva Nagar, Basava Colony, Kalmeshwar Nagar, Subhas Nagar, Ashok Nagar, MM Badavane Area, New Gandhi Nagar, Kanabargi, and Kudachi will also experience disruptions in their water supply. Additionally, the impact will extend to other significant areas like the Cantonment area, Hindalco Factory, KAIDB Industrial Area, En-Root Village Tapings, Defiance Area, Sainik Nagar, KLE Hospital, BIM’S Hospital, and more.
