The Vijay Karnataka held a press meeting on Tuesday to address some of the queries related to Rail services in the Belagavi region. In response to the queries, the following information was shared by The South Western Railways:
- There are already 7 trains that run daily and stop at Belagavi and Miraj, including Londa-Miraj, Hubli-Miraj, and Castle Rock-Miraj Passenger Trains. These trains were suspended temporarily during the Covid pandemic, but have now been resumed. The electrification and track doubling work are currently underway in the Londa Belagavi Miraj section, and the resumption of Belagavi-Miraj passenger trains will be decided after the completion of these works and based on the availability of time.
- The Belagavi Vasco Train was also a topic of discussion. The Braganza Ghat on the Belagavi-Goa route is steep, making it unsuitable for many trains to run. There is a prescribed speed limit for trains on this route, and the demand for the Vasco Train will be assessed later. The section is deemed dangerous for train traffic.
- The night train services between Belagavi-Mangalore and Belagavi-Mysore will start after the completion of dubbing and electrification work and based on the availability of time slots.
