After Tireless Efforts, Indian Railways & SWR Successfully Restores Tracks Between Castle Rock and Caranzol Stations obstructed due to Braganza Ghats Landslide.
The relentless efforts of Indian Railways’ personnel have borne fruit as the Braganza Ghats Landslide that caused a major track blockage between Castle Rock and Caranzol Stations of the Braganza Ghat section in Hubli Division has been cleared. Despite facing heavy rainfall and challenging conditions, the railway authorities, along with dedicated workers, worked tirelessly to restore the tracks and ensure passenger safety.

At approximately 12 PM today, the track was certified ‘fit’ after undergoing thorough checks and safety assessments. To further verify the track’s stability and safety parameters, a locomotive was immediately run on the track for an engine rolling test. The successful test provided reassurance that the tracks were in optimal condition to resume train services.
As a result of these efforts, train services have now resumed in the affected region. At about 3.30 PM, a Goods train was run down the Ghat as a preliminary step towards restoring normal operations. However, in an abundance of caution, a speed restriction of 10 kmph has been imposed for the time being to ensure safe travel for passengers.
Braganza Ghats Landslide: Goa Express to remain short terminated till 02.08.2023
Notwithstanding the clearance of the Braganza Ghats Landslide and the resumption of train services, passengers are advised to take note of the previous bulletins issued by Indian Railways. The short termination, diversion, short origination, partial, or full cancellations of specific trains, as previously notified, will remain in effect until the specified date of August 2, 2023. Train Number 12779/80 Goa Express will continue to terminate and originate at Belagavi until the mentioned date, and other affected trains will follow the specified arrangements.
As the situation remains dynamic, any changes in train services will be promptly notified to the public through official communication channels. Indian Railways urges passengers to stay informed about the latest updates and plan their journeys accordingly.
The successful clearance of the Braganza Ghats Landslide and subsequent track restoration stands as a testament to the commitment and resilience of Indian Railways’ personnel and support workers.
