Futuristic Design to Cater to Growing Passenger Needs
The proposed “5 Star GRIHA rating New Domestic Terminal Building (Belagavi Airport New Terminal)” includes a new departure terminal and the conversion of the existing terminal into arrivals. The facility will be equipped with four aerobridges to accommodate 2400 peak-hour passengers, with 1200 for arrivals and 1200 for departures. The construction plan also encompasses associated facilities such as a parking area, a service road, a new approach road from the highway, landscaping, and a utility block. The architectural design will be inspired by the local context, taking into account the geography, landmarks, culture, art, and architecture of the region.
Comprehensive Facilities and Sustainable Features
The new Belagavi Airport New Terminal will house ancillary buildings and associated facilities, including a utility building for the electric sub-station, DG room, AC plant room, and cooling towers. Underground facilities such as water tanks, a utility tunnel, a sewage treatment plant, and a solid waste management facility are also part of the project. Other features include a cityside toilet block and canteen building, a water treatment plant, a tensile fabric canopy, and an RCC canopy structure in front of the terminal for pickup and drop points.
The planning parameters reveal a thoughtful layout, with departures and arrivals facilities strategically placed at different levels to optimize passenger flow. The baggage handling system, security measures, and external concourse are designed to meet international standards, ensuring a seamless and secure airport experience.
Car parking facilities include provisions for private cars, buses, taxis, and staff, with specific attention to accessible parking for Persons with Reduced Mobility (PRM), aligning with the guidelines of “Accessibility Standards and Guidelines for Civil Aviation.”
With the bid submission set to commence on November 27, 2023, and conclude on December 12, 2023, the Belagavi Airport new terminal project is poised to transform the region’s aviation landscape, providing a modern, efficient, and sustainable gateway for air travelers.
