About Vande Bharat Express:
The Vande Bharat Express, previously known as Train 18, is a semi-high-speed, electric multiple-unit train operated by the Indian Railways on 4 routes as of October 2022.
Under the Make in India program, it was created by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Perambur, Chennai. The first train took 18 months to build. The first set of second-generation trains was anticipated to cost ₹115 crores (US$14 million), whereas the cost per unit for the first train was estimated to be ₹100 crores (equivalent to ₹114 crores in 2020). After the train’s introduction on February 15th, 2019, it was anticipated that a second unit would have been manufactured and prepared for use. On January 27, 2019, the service was renamed “Vande Bharat Express.”
