Belagavi South Terminal or Desur Junction a new proposal for Maintenace, Satelite Terminus cum Junction station for New Belagavi Railway Station.

As We are waiting for the formal inauguration of the New Belagavi Railway Station & Laying of the Foundation stone for Belagavi – Dharwad New line by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. These projects are all set to raise the status and importance of Belagavi as a Major Junction.
Desur would serve the same as what Hotgi does for Solapur, Veraval for Somnath & Renigunta for Tirupati.

Desur village is located in Belgaum taluka of Belgaum district in Karnataka, India. It is situated 15km away from Belgaum, which is both district & sub-district headquarters of Desur village.
Desur holds Indian Oil’s Fuel Holding Station.
Currently, as per the Gati Shakti model, the Refurbishment of Desur Station is in full swing.
Desur has now got hold of the Goods Terminal of the Erstwhile Belgaum Goods shed. As Belgaum’s Station Yard redevelopment made its way to Desur and Belagavi Main station now holds the potential of Operating New Trains.
We propose and wish, Desur to be Developed as a satellite passenger terminal for Holding Extra trains Bound to originate from BGM.
As Belgaum is set to get two New Rail lines which are Belagavi – Kittur – Dharwad (Land Acquisition under progress) & Belagavi – Kolhapur via Nipani (Under Survey).
Thus, in Later Years Belagavi will become a Major Junction after the HQ & Londa. Due to space limitations more Pitlines, Stables, and Washing Lines extensions are next to Impossible which in turn makes Desur an optimal candidate for such projects.
A major overhaul in Station Yard to make additional 3-4 pitlines, a shunting neck can be done to serve the purpose.

Our Team Member Shri Satishkumar Kuri has designed a layout for the probable Desur Junction.
